Cross Country Skiing

Scenic Caves Nature Adventures, Ontario, boasts 22 kilometers of groomed beginner and intermediate cross country ski and snowshoe trails winding through a 200 year old forest rich with wildlife. Winter owls and a wide variety of other birds will beckon to you from the 100 feet maple; beech and oak canopy while deer and many other animals can be seen in the forest. A warm-up hut and future log cabin located in the forest offer a place to pause and enjoy the beauty.

Snowshoeing

• Snowshoe Across the Longest Suspension Bridge in Ontario- Do You Dare?
• You step slowly onto the platform and grip the handrail tightly, as you begin your snowshoe trek across Ontario 's longest suspension footbridge. Through the trees, you catch a glimpse of the valley floor beneath, but it seems you're suspended even higher in the air. Far below and spread before you lies 10,000-square-kms view. With a sturdy wire fence lining the walkway, even the smallest adventurer can see everything.

Overview

• The Scenic Caves Nordic Centre has 22 km of cross country ski and snowshoe trails winding through a forest with a variety of wildlife. It is located just right at the top of the South Base of the Blue Mountain Resort. Interestingly, it is a cross country resort located not at the bottom, but at the top of the highest Ontario downhill resort.
• There will be an introduction offered to the snowshoeing and cross country skiing experience if one needs it.
• You have choices where you cross country ski, for example take the red trail (Eagle's Flight) to the yellow trail (Escarpment Run) and back to the red Georgian Return and the green Easy Peesy before returning to the Chalet. There are some steep uphills and some challenging terrain but there are plenty of options and pleasant experiences for the average skier and the beginner.
• The Nordic facility offers good and well marked trails for beginners and immediate level skiers.
